Buy & Sell
by Anton Krijgsman — December 20th, 2006

Hey guys. I thought it was about time I wrote an article again, since this has been quite awhile. This time I want to dedicate it to some of the players who might be good to target in deals right now, as well as to some players I believe the time has come to find them a new home.

Rashard LewisSELL

This guy has been gold if not diamonds this year. He is posting career highs in points (22.7), rebounds (7), threes (2.4), FG% (48.8) and FT% (90.1) so far. That is mighty impressive and he is quite possibly one of the most surprising players this. The rise is pretty easy explained though since he has been handling a career high minutes per game as well, averaging over forty minutes per game.

He is playing for a contract extension and with these numbers he should be in line for a fat pay check. So he has every reason to continue playing like this. Looking at his track record Lewis it shows that Lewis fades off big time in the second half of the season. In the final two months off the season last year he dropped from a top twenty player to a borderline top fifty player and that was not the first time he pulled that stunt.

Knowing this and knowing that his value cannot get much higher then right now with Ray Allen down this is the perfect time to move him. Who knows maybe you can land yourself some borderline first round talent like the underrated Chauncey Billups and a little extra.

Darko MilicicBUY

Darko has one huge quality and that is that he is a great shotblocker. He really started displaying that last year when he was dealt to the Magic and he averaged two blocks a game in a mere twenty minutes.

This year he started the season well at the World Championships with some mighty impressive play. Recently however his blocks are fading away and that will have a lot of owners worried. No need. Darko is playing strong and the stats are just not reflecting that. Cope with that for now and he should reward you with some nice shot blocking numbers and in addition to that slid boards and fieldgoal percentage down the line. His minutes have been going up from twenty per game in November to twenty-four per game in December and with minutes increased production will come.

Carlos BoozerSELL

I believe Carlos Boozer has gotten his act together this year. He has been amazing in every aspect to every fantasy GM that drafted him this year. I for one did not see him average a little over 22 points per game, 12.1 rebounds per game while shooting at 55.5% from the field. The Jazz got that great supporting team playing now which unfortunately hurts Andrei Kirilenko quite a bit since that allows him to focus on D mostly. This is about Carlos however and while he appears to be healthy this year, I still have that little tag on the guy of him getting injured pretty easy. The issue with Boozer is that he does not miss one game when he goes down… no, he goes down for an extended time. So if you can get a nice solid deal I would take and limit risk here.

Manu GinobiliBUY

I like Manu. The kid can play some serious ball. He has some downside as well though (always good to mention in trade talks) being the way San Antonio distributes the minutes at the guard slots and his tendency to get hurt at times. A good example of the latter was the back injury causing him to miss four games and play limited in another four.

There is plenty of good however this year if you look at Gino; for one it is looking like he can actually hit his free throws making him a nice asset if you look for some help in that particular category. He is taking some more shots from three point range as well and hitting those at a higher percentage as well. Add his solid field goal percentage, excellent steals and decent boards and assists and there is a lot to like. Going after him now is probably the right time since his owners might still view him as an injury plagued player so you can get him at a pretty nice price. Try Luol Deng for example who has been red hot, but is a bit limited in the categories he helps your team and on top of that has a bad fantasy playoff schedule in h2h.

Marcus CambySELL

I love having Camby on my teams ‘cause he is one of the best rebounders and shotblockers in the league. And he combines that with low turnovers and solid steals. This year he added some assists to his repertoire as well, dishing a solid three per game. With the addition of Allen Iverson I expect that to change though. If you have Camby it is a matter of how many games you will get from the guy and so far he has been pretty healthy, so you probably are a happy owner. However with Camby that can change at anytime during the season, which is why this is a good time to deal the guy. People will know he has been healthy this season and some people will actually forget about the injuries (yes people have a short memory).
You probably got him at a pretty good spot in the draft, so cash in and get a nice solid contributor in return.

Morris PetersonBUY

A disappointment to a lot of owners and I have actually seen him as a free agent or on waivers in several twelve team leagues. News Flash MoPete is picking it up again and should be on your radar again. A guy that shoots on average six times from downtown each game while still shooting 44% from the field is usually worth owning. MoPete is a solid rebounder, has insane low turnovers for a guard and is a decent thief as well so get him while his value is relatively low.
